David Qualben was a dominant pitcher for Pace from 2004 to 2006. Qualben went 15-9 across 181.1 career innings, sporting a 2.88 ERA. He is tied for the seventh most wins in program history, while his ERA ranks 9th all-time. Qualben recorded 196 strikeouts in just three seasons for the Blue and Gold, a team-record upon his graduation and currently the third-highest career total.

In 2005, Qualben recorded 84 strikeouts to set a new single-season Pace record. His 1.19 ERA in 2005 was the second lowest in program history at the time, currently ranking as the fourth-best of all-time. Qualben was an NE10 All-Conference First Team selection, NCBWA East Region First Team and All-American Honorable Mention, and Pace's Co-Male Athlete of the Year. In 2006, he recorded another 80 strikeouts to hold the two highest single-season totals. Qualben made the NE10 All-Conference and ABCA-Rawlings All-Region Second Teams in his final season in Pleasantville.

Qualben was selected by the Houston Astros in the 7th round of the 2006 MLB Amateur Draft and made his professional debut with the Tri-City ValleyCats. He would go on to pitch for the Lexington Legends in 2007 and split time between Lexington and the Salem Avalanche in 2008.
