Pace women's basketball coach
Carrie Seymour has been a mainstay on the Pace University basketball courts for the past 31 years. Across her terrific Setter tenure, Seymour has averaged more than 17 wins per season since 1992. Under her tutelage, the Setters have made 11 NCAA tournament appearances, including two Elite Eight runs in 2001 and 2022.
Seymour is a member of the 500-career win club, accomplishing this feat on Jan. 22, 2022, becoming only the 17th active Division II head coach to accomplish that feat.
Well known for her ability to recruit quality student-athletes who graduate and go on to establish successful careers, Seymour has guided her teams to eighteen postseason appearances. The Setters have participated in 11 NCAA Tournaments, highlighted by two Division II Elite Eight appearances, 2021-22 and 2000-01; and the Sweet Sixteen in 1993-94 and 2010-11. Pace has also won three Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II championships in 1993, 1996 and 1997. Coach Seymour has been recognized regionally and nationally for her efforts, winning numerous coaching awards.
Throughout her career Seymour has mentored 37 All-Conference selections and five WBCA All-America honorees.
During her tenure at Pace, the women's basketball team has excelled in the classroom, and have been ranked in The WBCA Academic Top 25 five times (2005, 2006, 2007, 2022, 2023).
She earned the New York Collegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year award following the 1993-94 season, is a two-time WBCA District Coach of the Year (1993-94 and 1999-00) and has been named Division II Coach of the Year by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA) seven times: 1996, 2000, 2001, 2006, 2007, 2010 and 2022.
Prior to her storied tenure at Pace, Seymour had coaching stints at Eastern Connecticut State University where she was an all-star player. In 1983, she received her bachelors degree in Psychology with minors in physical education and coaching. After graduation, she was an assistant coach at Marist College (1984-85), College of The Holy Cross (1985-86) and spent six seasons on the sidelines at St John's University (1986-1992). While at St John's, she earned her master's degree in Education.
