Chris Bayer played for the Pace baseball team for three seasons, and his name is found all over the program's record book, both as a batter and a pitcher. Bayer batted .354 across his three seasons with 22 home runs, 93 RBIs and 85 runs in 79 games. He ranks 13th all-time in career batting average and tied for 14th in career home runs. In 1984, Bayer hit .395 with 11 home runs, which ties him for ninth on the single-season home run record list.

Bayer also impressed as a pitcher throughout his career. He is tied for fourth all-time with 16 victories, and 19th with a career ERA of 3.55. Bayer's 140 career strikeouts rank him 18th in the all-time record book, and his 67 strikeouts in 1985 are the 15th highest single-season total in program history.

Bayer took home numerous awards throughout his tenure at Pace. He was selected to the New York State Division I All-Star First Team in 1985. Bayer was also a two-time ABCA-Converse All-District Team member, earning Second-Team honors in 1984, and jumping to the First Team in 1985. He was picked to the ECAC-Diamond Conference All-Star First Team as well in 1985. Bayer was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in 1985, and went on to play four seasons in the Red Sox and New York Mets minor league systems.
