PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – On Saturday, Pace University Women's Swimming and Diving earned an impressive home victory for their Senior Night, edging Bentley University in a tightly contested dual meet, 147-139. The Setters won key events in both swimming and diving, and their depth across sprint freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke ultimately secured the narrow eight-point win.
Pace opened the meet with a major statement on the boards, as
Caroline Ranno captured first place in the 1-meter diving event with a score of 234.38. Ranno continued her momentum later in the meet by winning the 3-meter diving event as well (225.60), giving the Setters a strong advantage in two of the highest-point swing events of the day.
In the pool, Pace immediately took control with a win in the 200 Medley Relay, as the A relay of
Eugenia Morossi,
Bridget O'Brien,
Kathryn Zhenilenko, and
Alexei Vinson touched first in 1:54.31.
The Setters continued to rack up points through a balanced attack.
Eugenia Morossi was dominant in the backstroke events, winning both the 100 Back (1:00.08) and 200 Back (2:06.50), while also contributing major relay value.
Sprint freestyle and middle distance were led by
Caroline McKay, who won the 50 Free (25.59) and the 500 Free (5:32.70), and placed second in the 100 Free (56.44) to add crucial points in multiple events.
The breaststroke group delivered major scoring as well, with
Sydney Albers winning the 100 Breast (1:12.05) and Pace placing multiple athletes in the top positions.
With the meet coming down to the final events, Pace's consistency across the lineup, paired with Ranno's double diving win and multiple event victories, helped the Setters secure the overall women's win in one of the closest meets of the campaign.
With the regular season now in the rear view mirror, the Setters prepare for the Northeast 10 Conference Championship set for February 12
