Morossi Earns Second Straight NCAA Berth

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Sophomore Eugenia "Gigi" Morossi delivered a dominant 2025–26 campaign for the Pace University Women's Swimming and Diving program, going undefeated in the 200 Backstroke, and capturing a conference championship to help earn her a second consecutive NCAA qualification.

Morossi established herself as the premier 200 Backstroker in the Northeast 10 Conference this season, finishing unbeaten in the event across all dual-meet and championship competition. The Milan, Italy native's season culminated at the 2026 NE10 Championships, where she captured the 200 Backstroke title in commanding fashion, adding another conference crown to her resume. She also earned a runner-up finish in the 100 Backstroke, giving Pace two major podium performances and critical championship points.

Throughout the year, Morossi consistently ranked among the conference leaders in both backstroke events and proved to be one of the most reliable scorers on the roster. Morossi's excellence extended beyond individual events.

She collected four NE10 Swimmer of the Week honors during the season, beginning with a multi-event sweep against Adelphi that included wins in the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Freestyle, and 100 Backstroke. Frequently swimming the lead-off leg on the 200 Medley Relay and contributing key freestyle splits, she played a central role in Pace's relay success throughout the season.

Her performances secured qualification to the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships for the second straight year. The NCAA Division II Championships bring together the nation's top qualifiers who achieve NCAA selection standards throughout the season. The multi-day national meet features preliminary morning sessions and evening finals, with All-America honors awarded to the top eight finishers in each event and Honorable Mention All-America recognition given to places nine through sixteen.

When asked about qualifying for the NCAA Championship a second time, Morossi said, "It is reassuring because it confirms the work I have been putting in is moving me in the right direction", adding that competing at Nationals last year provides her with a strong foundation to pursue even better results this season.

In addition to her athletic achievements, Morossi maintained a 4.0 GPA during the 2025–26 academic year, exemplifying the complete student-athlete model. Her academic discipline mirrors her competitive consistency and reinforces her impact both in and out of the pool.

This season builds upon an exceptional freshman campaign in 2024–25, when Morossi went undefeated in backstroke events during the regular season, captured NE10 titles in both the 100 and 200 Backstroke, and was named NE10 Rookie of the Year.

The 2026 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships will take place March 10–14 in Evansville, Indiana, with additional information to be announced as it becomes available.
