Women’s Swimming and Diving Collect Multiple Event Wins in Dual-Meet Setback to SCSU

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – On Friday evening, Pace University Women's Swimming and Diving delivered a series of strong swims and standout individual performances but ultimately fell to Southern Connecticut State University by a score of 163-120 at the Goldstein Fitness Center pool. With the result, the Setters move to 6-1 in dual meets this season.

Pace opened the meet with a competitive showing in the 200 Medley Relay, as the A-relay of Eugenia Morossi, Sophie Greko, Kathryn Zhenilenko, and Jean Donlevy secured second place in a tight race at 1:54.45, keeping the Blue and Gold well within reach in the early events.

The distance group set the tone shortly after, highlighted by a dominant wire-to-wire victory from Caroline McKay in the 1000 Free. McKay pulled away early and never looked back, touching in 11:06.45 for one of Pace's most convincing wins of the night. She later added key scoring efforts with a runner-up finish in the 100 Free (56.24) and a third-place showing in the 200 Free.

Morossi turned in one of the meet's most impressive individual outings, sweeping the backstroke events with authority. The sophomore claimed the 100 Back in 59.09 before controlling the field in the 200 Back, earning another decisive victory in 2:07.03.

Pace continued its speed surge in the sprint freestyle races. The Setters delivered a one-two punch in the 50 Free, with McKay (25.54) edging teammate Alexei Vinson (25.75) for the top two spots. Vinson returned moments later to capture the 100 Free in 55.72, continuing her standout early-season form.

The middle-distance and breaststroke groups added essential points to the scoreboard. Donlevy placed third in the 200 Free, while Kaitlyn Bonner contributed scoring finishes in both the 1000 and 500 Freestyle events.

Greko and Sydney Albers provided depth in the breaststroke races as Greko took third in the 100 Breast, with Albers close behind before later placing second in a tightly contested 200 Breast (2:38.82).

Despite Southern Connecticut's advantage in overall depth across the lineup, the Setters' blend of race wins, top-three finishes, and emerging contributors marked another encouraging performance as the team continues to build toward the heart of its schedule.

Pace returns to the pool next Saturday at 12:00 p.m. for a road dual meet at Bridgeport University, looking to bounce back and continue its strong season trajectory.
