PLESANTVILLE, N.Y. – On Friday night, Pace University Swimming and Diving jumped back into the pool to jump-start its 2025 season against Adelphi University. At the Goldstein Fitness Center, both the men's and women's swimming and diving programs put together an excellent showing to begin the 2025-26 campaign. The women's team came away with a 139-88 victory while the men's team fell short, 174-48.
The Pace University women's swimming and diving team opened its dual meet season with a convincing win over Adelphi on Friday night in Pleasantville, N.Y.
The Setters started strong with a win in the 200 Medley Relay, as the quartet of
Eugenia Morossi,
Sophie Greko,
Kathryn Zhenilenko, and
Caroline McKay touched first at 1:54.85.
Morossi continued her dominant night with wins in both the 200 Free (1:58.70) and 100 Back (59.54), which is now the fastest time in the conference, while McKay swept the sprint freestyle events, taking first in the 50 Free (25.67) and 100 Free (55.91).
Freshman
Kathryn Zhenilenko picked up a victory in the 200 IM (2:20.52) and added a runner-up finish in the 100 Breast (1:12.02).
On the diving boards,
Caroline Ranno swept both the 1-meter (210.30) and 3-meter (219.37) which is currently the highest score recorded in the conference this season, extending Pace's lead.
The women's squad closed the night with another relay win in the 400 Free Relay (3:49.82), featuring
Jordan Barbosa, Jeannie Donlevy,
Alexei Vinson, and Greko.
The Pace University men's swimming and diving team opened its 2025–26 campaign with a competitive effort against Adelphi on Friday night.
The Setters were led by strong performances from Javier Cisternas Gomez, who placed third in the 200 IM (2:00.66) and third in the 100 Fly (53.22), and
Aidan Tat, who earned third in the 200 Free (1:53.55) and fourth in the 100 Free (51.19).
Greg Farnum added a top-five finish in the 100 Fly (54.46), while
Melo Meir impressed with a second-place swim in the 100 Breast (1:01.37).
The men's 200 Medley Relay of Cisternas Gomez, Meir, Farnum, and
Jordyn Cristoff-Gonzalez placed second in 1:39.27, while the 400 Free Relay team of Tat,
Shane Scatliffe,
Matthew McCaffrey, and Farnum closed the meet with a solid 3:29.95.
On the boards,
Adem Ozkurt scored 137.02 points in the 1-meter dive for the Setters.
Overall, it was a productive opening night for both squads, as the men's and women's teams now prepare for another home meet against Saint Michael's College set for 2:45 p.m. next Sunday.
