BRONXVILLE, NY - Pace Women's Swimming traveled to Bronxville, NY for their first double dual meet of the season Saturday afternoon with host, Sarah Lawrence College, and Herkimer Community College.
In the event, Northeast-10 (NE10) Swimmer and Rookie of the Week,
Eugenia Morossi, shattered a Pace Swimming record as well as tallying a NCAA Qualifying time as the team cruises passed both teams, 120-69 and 148-16 respectively.
Major Meet Highlights:
- Morossi's stellar performance occurred during the 200-yard backstroke event when she tapped the wall at 2:01.66. With this time, she now holds not only the fastest time in the NE10, but the Pace Swimming record... but that's not all. The rookie swimmer tallied a NCAA Division II National Championship "B" Qualifying time for the 200-yard backstroke event.
- The Setters took the first and second place spots in the 200-yard freestyle with Jean Donlevy finishing first (2:07.08) and Alexei Vinson (2:10.24) took second. The same placings occurred for the Setters in the 100-yard freestyle, but this time, Katherine Kline came in first (57.00) and Frida Steen (59.060 in second.
- The 500-yard freestyle win was secured by Sophie Greko (5:23.46) while Aryana Twist took third (5:52.81).
- Taiis Sanchez-Messado tapped the wall at 2:46.44 in the 200-yard breaststroke for a first place finish and Sofia Popp soon after in second at 2:52.52.
- Ann Punnoose and Nataly Ramos-Jorqueda competed in the 1000-yard freestyle. Punnoose finished first at 13:54.75 while Ramos-Jorqueda came in second at 14:15.50.
- Secured the 200-Medley Relay victory with a time of 1:58.50.
Pace Women's Swimming remain undefeated so far this season sitting at 4-0. They will be back in action at Goldstein Fitness Recreation Center when they host a double dual meet with Assumption University and Felician University on Nov. 16.
