PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Pace women's swimming and diving defeated the College of Staten Island in dominant fashion, 195-67, on Saturday night. The win highlights three straight victories for the Setters as the women's squad continues their fantastic start to the 2024-25 season.
The Blue and Gold had several events showcasing their successful night in the water.
Northeast-10 Rookie of the Week honoree,
Eugenia Morossi, posted the fastest time in the conference so far this season with a time of 5:20.16 in the 500-yard freestyle. Along with her impressive performance in the freestyle event, Morossi also led Pace in the 100-yard backstroke. The freshman finished with a time of 1:00:73 while
Sage Evans (1:07.45), and
Paulina Pereira were next in line.
Pace claimed the first three spots in the 100 and 200-yard freestyle events. In the 100-yard freestyle
Jordan Barbosa (57.75),
Alexei Vinson (57.93), and
Frida Steen (59.40) were the first three to finish. As for the 200-yard freestyle, it was the trio of
Sophie Greko (2:02.16), Barbosa (2:06.61), and Vinson (2:11.56) who highlighted the event.
Aryana Twist secured the victory in both butterfly events taking the 100-yard (1:02.17) and 200-yard (2:20.85). The freshman is undefeated in all butterfly events she has competed in to begin the season. Along with Twist's win in the 100-yard fly, the Setters also picked up second, third, and fourth with
Katherine Kline (1:05:30), Barbosa (1:10:82), and
Ann Punnoose (1:11:33).
In the women's 1000-Yard Freestyle Punnoose claimed first (13:41:35), and
Nataly Ramos-Jorqueda took second (13:55:69).
On the diving board,
Caroline Ranno secured a win in the 3M event with a score of 192.15.
To close out the meet, the Setters earned the first three spots in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The winning relay of Morossi, Greko, Steen, and Donlevy wrapped up with a time of 1:44.92 to put the finishing touches on Pace's win.
The Blue and Gold return to the pool next weekend on November 9
th for an away match-up against Sarah Lawrence College.
