NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Propelled by more stellar diving performances, the Pace University men's and women's swimming and diving teams enjoyed their best day of the NE10 Championships on Saturday.
Men's Recap (207 Points, 4th Place)
In similar circumstances to opening night on Thursday, it was another 2-3 finish for divers,
Sean Rorke (Smithtown, N.Y./Hauppauge) and
Patrick Dwyer (Tomkins Cove, N.Y./North Rockland), that led the way for the Blue and Gold.
Dwyer took home the bronze medal in the three-meter with a mark of 444.45 while Rorke nabbed his second silver of the weekend with a score of 456.50.
Sophomore
Tyler Besnoff (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township) served as Pace's top swimmer on the night with a fifth-place effort in the 400-IM. The Pennsylvania native tallied a time of 4:17.14.
Senior
Samuel Gibson (Nassau, Bahamas/Saint Andrew's) and freshman
Robert Gehman (Reinholds, Pa./Cocalico Senior) also put together top-10 finishes. Gibson posted ninth in the 100-fly (52.46) while Gehman placed 10th in the 100-breast (1:00.17).
Women's Recap (239 Points, 6th Place)
Another near-medal from graduate student
Annabel Keppel-Palmer (Kent, England/Maidstone Grammar School) highlighted the night on the women's side. The England native came in fourth in the 100-back, touching the wall just 0.39 seconds behind the third-place finisher.
Sophomore
Rose Clark (Acworth, Ga./Harrison)e put together a pair of terrific efforts for Pace. The Georgia native tallied a 10
th-place finish in the 400-IM (4:56.98) prior to being 11
th in the 100-breast (1:10.25).
Also in the 100-breast, it was senior
Kalin Tang (Miramar Beach, Fla./Fort Walton Beach) posting a 12
th-place performance in a time of 1:10.33.
The Setters boasted another pair of top-10 finishes on Saturday. Senior
Katherine Devaney (Tuckahoe, N.Y./Eastchester) placed eighth in the 100-fly, while sophomore
Taiis Sanchez-Messado (Ossining, N.Y./Saint Vincent Ferter) touched the wall fifth in the 100-breast (1:09.12).
