#9 PACE LACROSSE DEFEATES ASSUMPTION, 11-4

WORCESTER, MA - Robert Cornetta (Huntington Station, NY/Half Hollow Hills West) (Huntington Station, NY/Half Hollow Hills West) and Jake Sheppard (Brunswick East, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia/East Victoria) each recorded hat tricks scoring three goals apiece to help the #9 ranked Pace University men's lacrosse team cruise past the Greyhounds of Assumption College in a Northeast-10 Conference match-up. The Setters improve to 6-3 on the season, 3-3 in the NE-10, while the Greyhounds fall to 2-7 overall, 2-5 in conference play.

After a scoreless first period, both teams combined for six goals in the second to go into the half tied at three. Taking advantage of an extra man opportunity, Matt Klaskin put the Greyhounds on the board first scoring at the 10:40 mark. T.J Urban (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) (9:29) and James Hammel (North Caldwell, NJ/West Essex) (5:19) scored back-to-back goals to put Pace up 2-1. Hammel would finish the afternoon with two goals. Assumption would retake the lead with goals from Mike Molk (4:38) and Neil Donnelly (3:11), but Shepard (2:29) would tie the game at three before heading into the break.

The Setters would take control in the second half outscoring the Greyhounds 8-1, including five goals in the third. Molk's second goal of the game cut the home teams deficit to 5-4, but that's as close as Assumption would get as Pace rattled off six unanswered goals to end the game. Ryan Gregory (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) rounded out the scoring finishing the game with a pair of goals, to go along with an assist. Urban added three assists on the day, while Dan Abberton (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) and Sheppard each had two.

Pace out shot Assumption 31-19 and also controlled the face offs winning 11 out of 17.

Timothy Matheis (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) made eight saves in net for the Setters.

#9 Pace returns to action on Tuesday, April 17th, as the Setters host Northeast-10 Conference rival and defending National Champion #3 Le Moyne College.  Scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m.
