Mulholland Endowment Announcement

Men's Lacrosse

The May Ellen and Gerald Ritter Foundation Establish the Dan Mulholland Endowment Fund For Men’s Lacrosse

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.  – Pace University Director of Athletics Mark Brown announced today that Setter alumni Terri and Alex Rohan, through the May Ellen and Gerald Ritter Foundation (the "Foundation") have made the lead gift to establish the Dan Mulholland Endowed Fund for Pace Men's Lacrosse. The endowment, named in honor of the longtime coach and founder of the Pace men's lacrosse program who passed away this January, will be used to supplement and enhance the areas of most need for the men's lacrosse program.

"We are incredibly appreciative of this generous gift in honor of such an iconic Hall of Fame personality in coach Mulholland," said Brown. "His legacy will live on through this endowment."

Muholland was instrumental in the development of countless student-athletes and served as a father figure to many. After starting the Pace men's lacrosse team in 1983, he was instrumental in elevating it to a varsity squad in 1986. In 14 years as a varsity coach, Mulholland, or "Coach Mully" earned a record of 104-77 from 1986 to 1999. Mulholland was inducted into the Pace Athletics Hall of Fame in the spring of 2018.

"Coach Mulholland was there for advice and guidance at all times. I was fortunate to work alongside Mully and his love for Pace was evident and infectious in everything he did," remarked Pace men's lacrosse head coach Tom Mariano.

"A special moment for me was telling Mully that we were planning on starting an endowment in his name that would benefit Pace Lacrosse in perpetuity. He was incredibly honored and immediately his thoughts turned to how it would help the lacrosse program. Coach Mully built Pace lacrosse and we stand on his shoulders. We will look to honor his love for the game."

"Terri and I are honored to be able to support the Dan Mulholland Endowed Fund.  Coach Mully made a lifelong impression on all those who had the privilege of playing for him, myself included,"  remarked Alex Rohan who played goalkeeper and defense for the Pace Setters from 1990-92 under the tutelage of Mulholland.

All donations made in his memory were added to support the Foundation's establishing gift. Click here to see a current list of additional contributors.
