Men’s Lacrosse Drops Road Battle at Bentley, Streak Snapped at Ten

WALTHAM, MA. – On the road Saturday afternoon, No. 5 Pace University Men's Lacrosse surged out to a fast start but could not sustain it as RV Bentley University rallied for a 13-11 victory. The Setters carried a multi-goal lead into the second before the Falcons flipped the game with a decisive run, ending a ten-game winning streak and moving the Blue and Gold to 10-2 overall and 5-1 in the Northeast 10 Conference (NE10).

The Blue and Gold came out sharp, scoring six goals in the opening quarter to take a commanding 6-2 lead. Jake Cenci opened the scoring, while Declan Landers and Zach Goetze fueled the early run as Pace controlled possession and dictated tempo.

Bentley shifted momentum in the second quarter, outscoring the Setters 6-1 to take an 8-7 lead into halftime. Pace briefly halted the run with a goal from Matt Baldino, but the Falcons capitalized on a series of possessions to erase the early deficit.

The teams traded momentum in the third quarter, as Bentley extended the lead to 10-7 before Pace responded. Landers and Will Danowski each found the back of the net to cut the deficit to 10-9 heading into the final frame.

Pace continued to battle in the fourth, as Landers completed his hat trick early in the quarter to make it 11-10. Bentley answered with three goals over the next stretch to regain control, pushing the lead to 13-10 late in the game.

The Setters generated chances down the stretch and added a late goal from Cenci to cut the deficit to 13-11. Pace continued to apply pressure in the final minutes, but Bentley held on to secure the win.

Landers led the offense with three goals, while Cenci and Goetze each added two. Danowski recorded a goal and two assists, and Trevor Lamoureux added two assists as the Setters finished with 37 shots in the contest.

The Setters continue NE10 play next week with their regular-season home finale against No. 1 Adelphi University. Clashing against the defending national champions, the Setters kick off play at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Northwell Stadium.
