Men’s Lacrosse Set for NE10 First Round Matchup with Bentley

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Pace University Men's Lacrosse opens postseason play on Saturday afternoon, as the No. 3 seeded Setters host No. 6 Bentley University in the first round of the Northeast 10 Conference Championship. Opening face-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Northwell Stadium.

Ranked No. 9 nationally, Pace finished the regular season 10-4 overall and 5-3 in Northeast 10 play, earning the No. 3 seed after holding the tiebreaker over Assumption based on the regular-season win between the two teams. Bentley enters the postseason at 6-7 overall and 4-4 in conference action after securing the No. 6 seed.

The Setters enter the tournament after one of the strongest regular seasons in program history. Following a season-opening overtime loss at Molloy, the Blue and Gold won 10 of their next 13 contests, highlighted by a ten-game winning streak during the middle of the season. Pace earned conference victories over Assumption, Franklin Pierce, American International, Southern New Hampshire, and Saint Michael's before closing the regular season against nationally-ranked No. 1 Adelphi and No. 3 Saint Anselm.

Offensively, Pace has been one of the top teams in the conference this season, scoring at least 20 goals four times and reaching double figures in all but one contest. The Setters posted signature wins over St. Thomas Aquinas, American International, and Southern New Hampshire by a combined score of 58-24, while also holding Saint Michael's to just five goals in a key conference road victory.

Saturday's match-up will mark the second meeting between the two teams this season. Bentley earned a 13-11 victory over Pace on April 11th in Waltham, MA., after using a strong second quarter to take control. The Setters rallied in the second half and cut the deficit to one entering the fourth quarter before Bentley held on late.

Bentley enters the postseason after splitting its final four conference games. The Falcons picked up wins over Southern New Hampshire, American International, and Pace during the stretch, while also suffering narrow one-goal losses to Assumption and Saint Anselm.

The winner of Saturday's match-up will advance to the conference semifinals on Wednesday, April 29, against No. 2 seeded Saint Anselm Hawks in Manchester, N.H.
