WORCESTER, MA. – On Friday, the Pace men's and women's swimming and diving teams put together an impressive performance in the pool to improve their position in the Northeast-10 (NE10) Conference Championships. The women's team moved up to fifth place while the men's squad leaped up to sixth overall.
Highlighting the women's side, the relay squad of
Eugenia Morossi,
Jordan Barbosa,
Jean Donlevy, and
Sophie Greko finished third in the 200-yard freestyle and broke the school record in the event (1:38.07).
Earning key points for the women, Greko secured gold in the women's 500-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 5:06.07.
Later on, in the women's 50-yard freestyle Donlevy finished tenth, while Barbosa and
Alexei Vinson finished 14
th and 16
th.
In the 3-meter diving event,
Caroline Ranno posted a third-place finish with a score of 330.35.
In the final relay of the evening, Morossi, Greko, Twist, and Donlevy notched a third-place finish with a time of 3:58.05.
On the men's side, the 200-yard freestyle relay of
Owen Butryn,
Michael Brace,
Talis Veidis, and
Santiago Domenech placed seventh.
In the 200-yard individual medley,
Niels Callewaert posted a personal best time of 1:56.35 in the preliminaries and finished eighth in the finals helping the Setters rise in the standings.
In the men's 1-meter Diving,
Greg Asayan finished fourth on the board.
Wrapping up the day, the 400-medley relay team of
Michael Ferstler, Callewaert, Brace, and Butryn earned a sixth-place finish.
The Setters return to the pool in Worcester, MA. tomorrow afternoon for day three of the NE10 Conference Championships.
