WORCESTER, MA. – Pace University Men's Swimming and Diving opened competition at the first day of the 2026 Northeast 10 Conference Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday evening, earning valuable early points and positioning itself firmly in the team standings. Following the opening night of events at the WPI Sports and Recreation Center, the Setters sit sixth overall with 40 points as they look to build momentum heading into the remainder of the four-day meet.
The men opened the night in the 800 Freestyle Relay, where the A-relay of Javier Cisternas Gomez, Melo Meir, Greg Farnum, and Aidan Tat turned in a sixth-place finish to put Pace on the board early. The B-relay followed with additional scoring, adding eight more team points to strengthen the Setters' position through the opening event.
In the distance portion of the program, Matthew McCaffrey delivered another steady performance for the Blue and Gold in the 1000 Freestyle, placing 15th and collecting key points that brought Pace's team total to 40 through the first day of competition.
With the first night complete, the Setters head into the second day preliminaries poised to climb the standings as more of the championship schedule unfolds. Pace returns to the pool tomorrow for Day Two of the Northeast 10 Championships, with preliminary heats set for 10:15 a.m., followed by finals at 5:30 p.m.
