PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – On Saturday evening, Pace University Men's Swimming and Diving turned in a historic showing, earning victories and major point totals in their double dual meet against Assumption University and Mount Saint Mary College (MSMC), highlighted by a program-record 223 points (the highest single-meet score in program history). Following their impressive evening in the water, the team now sits at 3-2 overall on the year.
The Setters opened the meet with a dominant 1–2 finish in the 200 Medley Relay, as the A-relay of
Santiago Domenech,
Melo Meir, Greg Farnum, and
Jordyn Cristoff-Gonzalez took first in 1:40.83, followed closely by the B-relay.
Freshman
Aidan Tat claimed the 200 Free (1:51.97) and later added a strong performance in the 100 Free (50.62).
Morgon Washington-Patterson added a first-place finish in the 100 Free (48.01) and was runner-up in the 200 IM (2:06.92).
Melo Meir continued his dominance in the breaststroke events, sweeping both the 100 Breast (59.80) and 200 Breast (2:16.87).
Greg Farnum powered his way to wins in the 200 Back (2:05.71) and 100 Fly (54.99), finishing third in the 200 IM (2:07.41).
In distance events,
Matthew McCaffrey won the 500 Free (5:16.07) while
Patrick Purcell and
Cody Villanueva added important contributions in the 1000 and mid-distance races.
The Setters also showcased depth in the fly events, with
Michael Brace and
Ian Ensuncho placing second and third in both the 200 Fly and 100 Fly.
On the boards,
Adem Ozkurt swept the diving events with victories in the 6-dive (100.05) and 5-dive (93.96) competitions.
Pace sealed the record-setting day with a decisive win in the 200 Free Relay (1:30.40) courtesy of Cristoff-Gonzalez, Tat, Meir, and Washington-Patterson, capping one of the strongest meets in team history.
Next in store for the Setters is a dual meet against Southern Connecticut State University at home, set for December 5
th at 4:00 p.m.
