NEW HAVEN, CT. – Pace men's swimming and diving competed on the road Friday against Southern Connecticut State University for their seventh match-up of the 2024-25 season. At the meet, the Setters were defeated by the Owls 170-103.
Opening the meet with the 200-yard medley relay event, the tandem of
Michael Ferstler,
Niels Callewaert,
Michael Brace, and
Owen Butryn finished in second with a time of 1:41.40.
Callewaert swept the breaststroke events posting a time of 1:01.18 in the 100-yard event, and a 2:23.19 in the 200-yard event.
In the 100-yard backstroke, Ferstler took second with a time of 54.08 and
Santiago Domenech followed closely behind taking third finishing in 57.97. Domenech also notched a third-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly event with a time of 56.96.
The duo of
Patrick Purcell and
Cody Villanueva finished back-to-back taking third and fourth in the 1000-yard Freestyle.
In the final event of the evening, the Setters produced a second-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:26.08.
After Friday's meet, the Blue and Gold move to 2-5 overall for the year.
The Setters return to action on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. for the Pace Diving Invitational versus Central Connecticut State University, Scared Heart University, the College of Staten Island, and Rider University.
