PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Saturday evening, Pace men's swimming and diving hosted Assumption University at the Goldstein Fitness Center. In a close match-up in their home pool, the Setters fell 133-121.
The Blue and Gold started the night strong with a commanding 5-second victory in the 400-yard medley relay. The team of
Michael Ferstler,
Niels Callewaert,
Michael Brace, and
Santiago Domenech posted a finishing time of 4:00:00.
Two Setters highlighted the 1000-yard freestyle, with
Patrick Purcell claiming second (12:00:0) and
Cody Villanueva taking third (13:00:0).
In the 200-yard freestyle, Pace took second, third, and fourth with the trio of
Talis Veidis (1:55:72),
Gerard Jardeleza (1:59:83), and
Cayden Breeden (2:01:74).
An excellent showing in the 100-yard backstroke saw Ferstler and Domenech claiming first and second place with Ferstler finishing in 52:20 and Domenech 57:01.
Along with his win in the 100-yard Backstroke, Ferstler won the 200-yard backstroke (1:59.26) sweeping the backstroke events.
In the 100-yard Butterfly, the setters took 1
st, 2
nd, and 4
th with the tandem of Brace (54.49), Domenech (55.12), and
Ian Ensuncho (58.91).
Rounding out Pace's solid performance,
Greg Asayan swept both 1M and 3M diving events posting a score of 211:13 in the 1M and 203.63 in the 3M.
The Setters return to the pool on Dec, 6 at 4:00 for a match-up against Southern Connecticut State University.
