Pace in the Polls
The Pace men's lacrosse team was slotted 12
th in the USILA's National Preseason Coaches' Poll and picked to finish fourth in the NE10's preseason coaches' poll.
Â
Last Season
The Blue and Gold are coming off a 2021 season in which the team finished with a 6-7 overall record, and a 5-5 conference mark.
Â
Pace played arguably the hardest schedule in all of Division II lacrosse, which included seven games against nationally ranked Division II opponents, six of whom were in the top-10. Pace also faced Division I Boston University in their season opener.
Â
Despite the difficult stretch of games, Pace defeated Bentley in the quarterfinals of the NE10 tournament, and advanced to the semifinals for the second straight season, before being eliminated at top-seeded Saint Anselm.Â
Â
Preseason All-Americans
Three All-Americans will take the field for the Setters in 2022.
Â
Junior midfielder
Anthony Caputo (Westbury, N.Y./W.T Clarke)Â and graduate attacker
Kyle Casey (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown)Â were named preseason All-Americans by both the USILA and Inside Lacrosse, while senior goalkeeper
Louis Ragusa (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) received an All-America Honorable Mention by Inside Lacrosse.
Caputo, the reigning NE10 Rookie of the Year, looks to follow up on an outstanding 2021 season which saw the Long Island native named to the NE10 All-Conference First and All-Rookie teams, as well as earning a second-team USILA All-American nod. Caputo scored or assisted in 12 of Pace's 13 games last season.
Â
Casey transferred into the Pace men's lacrosse program this past fall from Division I UAlbany. The Yorktown native tallied 61 points (34G, 27A) in 40 career games with the Great Danes.
Ragusa, the 2019 Rookie of the Year, was selected to the 2021 NE10 All-Conference Third Team after registering 139 total saves (2
nd best in the conference), including double-figure stops in 10 games, and a 9.93 goals-against average.
Team Captains
The Setters recently namedÂ
Walker Azzaro,Â
Kyle Casey,Â
John Dickson,Â
Zachary Powdermaker, andÂ
Matthew Rice as team captains for 2022.Â
