PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Following terrific rookie seasons, freshmen
Krista Dietz (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) and
Noa Trabold (Hoorn, Netherlands/Murmellius) of the Pace University field hockey team have each been recognized by Synapse Sports. Dietz was named a second-team All-American, while they both made the All-Rookie Team.
Dietz adds another great accomplishment a day after being selected as an
NFHCA first-team All-American. The Mahopac, N.Y. native not only led the NE10 in scoring, but also broke Pace's single-season scoring record with 20 goals across 20 games. Following the year, she was named to the NE10 All-Conference First Team and selected as the NE10's Rookie of the Year.
Dietz scored at least one goal in 11 of Pace's final 12 games, including multiple tallies in five of those contests. On Oct. 5, against Molloy College, she recorded her first career hat-trick. Dietz also tacked on five assists, won three NE10 Rookie of the Week honors, and her eight game-winning goals this season were double the amount of any other player in the conference.
While numbers told the story of Dietz' season, Trabold's brilliance had to be witnessed to be appreciated. Trabold was named to the NE10 All-Conference Second Team and All-Rookie Team for her staunch defensive efforts. A starter in all 20 games of her inaugural season, Trabold was borderline impenetrable in the backfield.
Trabold was selected as the NE10's Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 4 after leading a defense that allowed just one goal in wins over Mercy and fifth-ranked Stonehill. In a shutout against the Mavericks, Pace didn't allow a single shot on net.
