PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Junior
Casey Gelderman (Farmingville, NY/Sachem High School East) of the No. 18 Pace University women's lacrosse team was the No. 1-rated attack in all of Division II women's lacrosse, as announced by LaxPower in its LaxPower 150: Top Impact Players of the Year. A number of student-athletes from both the women's and men's lacrosse teams were ranked in the Top 10 in their respective positions. Ratings are calculated by LaxBytes.com.
Gelderman came out on top of the list, which consists of 733 student-athletes in Division II women's lacrosse, with a player impact rating (PIR) of 9.69. Gelderman was Pace's leading goal-scorer in 2017, setting a new program record with 61 goals. She also set new team records with 66 draw controls and 65 ground balls. Sophomore
Courtney Pabst (East Patchogue, NY/Bellport), who missed the final 4.5 games of the season, ranked as the No. 8 with a PIR of 7.93. Gelderman was No. 5 among all Division II student-athletes, regardless of position, which included 2,733 women's lacrosse players.
For the No. 5-ranked Pace men's lacrosse team, junior goalkeeper
Robert Beshlian (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) and senior defenseman
Brandon Donnellan (Chester, NY/Warwick Valley) each ranked No. 6 at their respective positions. Beshlian came in with a PIR of 6.62, just 0.01 off of the No. 5 spot. Donnellan had a PIR of 6.78, which also placed him No. 19 out of 2,274 total Division II student-athletes.
