PLEASANTVILLE, NY - The Pace University Men's Basketball team hits the road to take on Northeast-10 Conference rival Adelphi on Wednesday. The Setters enter the contest with a record of 2-5, 0-3 in the NE-10 after defeating Georgian Court on Saturday, while Adelphi stands at 2-4, 0-3 in NE-10.

Pace opened up the scoring with a
Kyle Pearson layup in the first minute of action. After falling behind by three points,
Shelton Mickell connected on a layup that sparked a 10-2 run for Pace, capped off by an
Evan Gordinier three point play. Then later, up 20-18 with 5:47 remaining in the opening period,
Jaylen Mann and
Bryan Rivers each added buckets to help Pace take a 27-24 lead into halftime.
A Mickell layup coupled with a
Mike Demello triple helped the Setters score the first five points of the second half. After Georgian Court rallied for the next six points, Pearson answered with a fastbreak dunk that put Pace back up by four. The Lions built up a two point advantage with 9:44 remaining but Mickell netted a three-pointer and a pair of free throws that gave Pace a three point lead. The Setters ended the final 7:04 of play on a 22-7 run that included another Pearson dunk, two Mickell triples, and eight converted Demello free throws.
Mickell led Pace with 25 points while adding eight rebounds and four steals. Pearson added 14 points and nine rebounds while Demello chipped in 14 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
Last Time vs. Adelphi: The Setters split a pair of contests with Adelphi last season. They were defeated at home 61-51, but earned a 69-51 victory over the Panthers on the road.
In the more recent matchup, Pace fell behind by three points early but a pair of
Jamaal James free throws helped spark a 20-0 run for the Setters that pushed the score to 20-3.
Denzel Primus-Devonish chipped in six points during the crucial run. Adelphi responded with seven straight points, but Primus-Devonish added another three-pointer that halted the Panther offense. After
Kai Smith connected from downtown and Primus-Devonish added a pair of free throws, Pace took a 32-22 lead into halftime.
Pace opened the first half with a
Jonathan Merceus basket and a Primus-Devonish three-pointer to advance their lead to 37-22. Then later, up 13 points with 17:26 remaining, the Setters scored seven consecutive points behind a Mann three-pointer and a Merceus jumper. Merceus added ten more points down the stretch as the Setters defeated Adelphi, 69-51.
Primus-Devonish led the way for the Setters with 19 points while adding six rebounds and three helpers. Smith chipped in 16 points, six boards, and five assists while Merceus added 16 points and eight rebounds. James posted a double-double after scoring ten points and grabbing ten rebounds.
The Panthers:- Adelphi enters the contest with a record of 2-4, 0-3 in NE-10 play. They are riding a two-game winning streak after defeating Robert Wesleyan and Queens.
- Forward Duane Morgan leads Adelphi and ranks 16th in the NE-10 with 16.7 points per game. Morgan's 7.7 rebounds per contest also ranks eighth in the conference.
- Anthony Libroia leads the Panthers with 4.5 assists per game, ranking seventh in the NE-10.
