Box Score GARDEN CITY, N.Y.- The Setters scored four goals in the final quarter but their comeback came up short as Adelphi bested Pace 10-8. Pace falls to 5-8 and 3-6 in the Northeast-10, while the Panthers improve to 12-2 and 8-1 in conference play.
Adelphi got on the board first as they opened the first quarter with a 2-0 lead. Matt Gebhardt (West Islip, NY/West Islip) (West Islip, NY/West Islip) scored in the final minute of the quarter to slice the Panther lead to 2-1. Adelphi added to their lead in the second quarter as they scored five of the next six goals with Joe Arlotta (Garden City Park, NY/St. Mary's) (Garden City Park, NY/St. Mary's) breaking the run off a Thomas Earl (North Babylon, NY/St. Anthony's) (North Babylon, NY/St. Anthony's) assist. Kevin Kadlick (Boston, MA/Catholic Memorial) (Boston, MA/Catholic Memorial) scored late in the quarter but the Setters trailed 7-3 at halftime.
The Panthers scored two man-up goals midway through the third quarter but Kadlick got Pace another tally to pull the Setters to within 9-4. Adelphi added a late goal and led 10-4 heading into the final quarter.
The Setters rallied in the final 15 minutes as John Kolesar (Warwick, NY/Warwick) (Warwick, NY/Warwick) scored a pair of goals, while Arlotta and Tom Murphy (Yonkers, NY/Hastings) (Yonkers, NY/Hastings) added a goal each but Pace would fall short as they fell 10-8.
For Pace, Kadlick led the way with two goals and two assists, while Earl tallied three assists. Arlotta and Kolesar each netted two goals for the Setters. In net, Kevin Grady (Medford, NY/Bellport) went the distance and posted 12 saves.
The Setters return to action on Saturday, April 30 when Pace will host Bentley University for Senior Day at 1 pm at Pace's Pleasantville campus.
