SETTERS COMEBACK FALLS SHORT; LOST IN OVERTIME TO PENMEN

MANCHESTER, N.H.- The Setters rallied with four goals in the fourth quarter but would fall short in overtime as they lost to the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire 8-7. Pace falls to 5-6 overall and 2-5 in the NE-10, while the Penmen improve to 3-7 and 2-5 in conference play.

The Penmen would take an early 1-0 lead but Pace answered later in the quarter as Matt Gebhardt (West Islip, NY/West Islip) (West Islip, NY/West Islip) scored off a Tom Murphy (Yonkers, NY/Hastings) (Yonkers, NY/Hastings) assist. Southern New Hampshire scored late in the first quarter, while netting a pair of goals of the second quarter to take a 4-1 lead into halftime.

Southern New Hampshire extended their lead to 5-1 early in the third but the Setters answered off the ensuing faceoff as Kevin Kadlick (Boston, MA/Catholic Memorial) (Boston, MA/Catholic Memorial) scored. Pace would tally a goal late in the third on the man-up opportunity as Thomas Earl (North Babylon, NY/St. Anthony's) (North Babylon, NY/St. Anthony's) scored off a John Kolesar (Warwick, NY/Warwick) (Warwick, NY/Warwick) assist as the Setters would trail 5-3 heading into the final quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Earl and Kolesar scored early in the fourth quarter to tie the game at five. The Penmen would answer with two goals to jump back in the lead at 7-5 but again it would be Earl at the 2:30 mark and Kolesar with 1:39 to play in regulation that tied the score at seven to force overtime. In the extra period, the Penmen would score in the first two minutes win the game.

For Pace, Earl finished with a hat trick, while Kolesar tallied two goals and one assist. In net Alex Cain (Rocky Point, NY/Rocky Point) went the distance and posted 11 saves.

The Setters return to action on Saturday, April 23 when Pace will host Saint Michael's College in a Northeast-10 Conference game 1 pm on Pace's Pleasantville campus.
