Box Score WORCESTER, Mass.- The Pace baseball team dropped a Northeast-10 Conference game to the Greyhounds of Assumption College 9-6. The Setters fall to 11-17-1 overall and 5-9 in the NE-10, while the Greyhounds improve to 8-20 and 4-8 in conference play.
Pace took an early lead as Brian Kraminitz (Bedminster, NJ/Bridgewater Raritan) (Bedminster, NJ/Bridgewater Raritan) had a RBI groundout in the second and Steven Martinez (Bronx, NY/Archbishop Stepinac) (Bronx, NY/Archbishop Stepanic) tripled in the second Pace run in the third inning for a 2-0 Setter lead.
Assumption took the lead in the bottom of the third with a four run inning as Shane Keddy had a two-run double in the frame to put the Greyhounds in front 4-2. Pace rallied in the fourth as Kraminitz singled in one run, while Michael Rodriguez (East Hampton, NY/East Hampton) (East Hampton, NY/East Hampton) tied the game at four with a sacrifice fly.
Assumption answered in the fifth as Keddy doubled in the go-ahead run, while the Greyhounds adding a second later in the inning. The Setters sliced the lead to one on a solo homerun by Glen Johnson (Hobe Sound, FL/South Fork) (Hobe Sound, FL/South Fork) but Assumption used a three-run eighth to take a 9-5 lead. Pace got a pinch-hit solo homerun by Brandon Martineson (Warwick, NY/Warwick) (Warwick, NY/Warwick) in the ninth but the Setters fell short.
For Pace, Kraminitz posted a pair of RBIs, while Tyler Collins (Stamford, CT/Trinity Catholic) (Stamford, CT/Trinity Catholic) went 2-for-4 in the game. On the hill, Michael Sciarretta (Stamford, CT/Stamford) (Stamford, CT/Stamford) (1-4) tossed six innings, allowing six runs on seven hits, while striking out five. Jonathan Silva (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) tossed one scoreless inning, while Jonathan Hornung (Calevrton, NY/Riverhead) pitched one inning, allowing three runs (one earned) on three hits.
Pace returns to action Saturday, April 16 when they will travel to Rindge, NH for a Northeast-10 Conference doubleheader against the Ravens of Franklin Pierce at 12 pm.
