Carlucci, Carreras Power Baseball to Road Win Over Adelphi

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Pace University Baseball earned a strong road victory on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Adelphi University, 7–2, behind a decisive fifth inning and a balanced offensive effort. The Blue and Gold broke open a tight game in the middle innings and controlled the final stretch to improve to 11–12 overall and 6–7 in the Northeast 10 Conference (NE10).

Pace opened the scoring in the second inning when Benjamin Tullo delivered an RBI single to plate Nick Carlucci, giving the Setters a 1–0 lead. Adelphi answered in the bottom half, capitalizing on an error to score twice and take a 2–1 advantage.

The Blue and Gold responded in the fourth inning as Carlucci launched a solo home run to even the score at 2–2, shifting momentum back to Pace.

Pace broke the game open in the fifth inning with a three-run surge. Manny Carreras delivered the key blow with a two-run single, scoring Anthony Depetro and Taison Jemison to give the Setters a 4–2 lead. Later in the inning, Carlucci added an RBI triple to extend the advantage to 5–2.

The Blue and Gold added insurance in the eighth inning. Carreras drove in another run with an RBI single, and Justin Crispino followed with an RBI base hit to push the lead to 7–2, sealing control of the game.

On the mound, Sean Costello earned the win with a strong six-inning outing, allowing just two runs (both unearned) on six hits while striking out three. Noah Banick closed out the final three innings, allowing just one hit and striking out two to secure the victory.

Carlucci led the offense with a 3-for-5 performance, including a home run, triple, and two RBIs. Carreras added two hits and three RBIs, while Tullo and Depetro each contributed multi-hit efforts as Pace totaled 14 hits in the win.

Baseball returns to action on Thursday, traveling to face Saint Anselm University with the first pitch scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
