CLARK NETS TWO GOALS IN PLAYOFF LOSS
WALTHAM, Mass.- Joseph Clark (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton) (Hopkinton,
MA/Hopkinton) netted a pair of goals as the Setters fell
12-6 to the Falcons of Bentley University in the Northeast-10
Quarterfinals. The Setters finish their season at 7-7 overall,
while the Falcons improve to 9-4 and advance to face #1 Le Moyne in
the NE-10 semifinals.
Bentley would jump out in front as they scored five goals in the
opening quarter, while keeping the Setters off the board.
The Setters opened the second quarter with a goal as
Thomas Earl (North Babylon, NY/St. Anthony's) (North Babylon, NY/St.
Anthony's) got Pace on the board to trail 5-1. The
Falcons would answer with a pair of goals but Nicholas Pellerito (Glen Cove, NY/Kellenberg) (Glen Cove, NY/Kellenberg) tallied a man-up goal
late in the second quarter as Bentley took a 7-2 lead into
halftime.
In the third quarter, Bentley would net a pair of goals while
the Setters failed to score as the Falcons took a 9-2 into the
fourth quarter.
Bentley would tack on two more goals to open the final quarter
but the Setters would rally as James Hammel (N. Caldwell, NJ/West Essex) (North
Caldwell, NJ/West Essex) and Clark would both score to cut
the score to 11-4. Bentley would add another goal but Clark and
Kevin Swierc (Clark, BNY/Arthur L. Johnson) would
both tally a late score as the Setters would fall short 12-6.
For the Setters, Clark netted a pair of goals, while Earl posted
a goal and an assist.
