Box Score PACE FALLS IN NE-10 REMATCH
AGAINST SAINT ROSE 7-3
PLEASANTVILLE, NY- Pace University's baseball team lost in
Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon to the College of
Saint Rose Golden Knights 7-3. The Setters fall to 8-18 overall and
4-10 in conference play this season, while the Golden Knights
improve to 8-20 overall and 3-9 in conference play.
Saint Rose would jump out to an early lead with a six-run rally
in the top of the second inning.
The Setters would spend the rest of the game trying to battle
back. Pace would get on the board in the third inning after a
single through the right side by Vinny Dammann (Mullica Hill, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) (Mullica
Hill, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) drove home Pace's
first run to cut the lead to 6-1.
Pitching would dominate the game until the eighth inning when a
Michael Rodriguez (East Hampton, NY/East Hampton) (East Hampton, NY/East Hampton)
groundout would push home a run, followed a RBI single by
JJ Conrad (Hamburg, NJ/Wallkill Valley) (Hamburg, NJ/Wallkill Valley) would make
the score 6-3 heading into the final frame.
Unfortunately, the Golden Knights would tag on one more run
which would help them secure the win.
Chris Camastro (Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington) (Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington)
got the start for Pace, pitching two innings and giving up six runs
(two earned) on nine hits, with no walks or strikeouts.
Michael Franza (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) provided
solid relief for Camastro going four shutout innings, allowing five
hits, no walks, and two strikeouts.
The Setters will return to action tomorrow when they travel to
Bronxville, NY for a non-conference game against Concordia College
set to begin at 3:30 pm.
