Box Score SETTERS WIN SECOND IN A ROW;
BEAT AIC 18-10
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.– Nicholas Pellerito (Glen Cove, NY/Kellenberg) (Glen
Cove, NY/Kellenberg) led the Setters with three goals and
three assists as Pace defeated the Yellow Jackets of American
International College 18-10 in Northeast-10 Conference action. The
Setters improve to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the NE-10, while the
Yellow Jackets fall to 2-8 and 1-4 in conference play.
The Yellow Jackets would strike first early in the opening
period but the Setters would rally with four unanswered goals as
Pellerito scored one and assisted on another in the run.
Kevin Kadlick (Boston, MA/Catholic Memorial) (Boston, MA/Catholic Memorial)
netted an unassisted goal, while John Kolesar (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) (Warwick,
NY/Warwick Valley) and Kevin Swierc (Clark, NJ/Arthur L. Johnson) (Clark,
NY/Arthur L. Johnson) would cap the rally for Pace. The
Yellow Jackets would slice the game one goal with a pair of scores,
but Thomas Earl (North Babylon, NY/St. Anthony's) (North Babylon, NY/St.
Anthony's) goal off a Pellerito assist put the
Setters up 5-3 after one quarter.
American International would open the second quarter with a goal
to trim the score to 5-4 with 12:41 left in the quarter. Earl would
net his second of goal of the day off an assist by Nick
Ospina (Johnson, NY/Minisink Valley), while Pellerito
would score on the power play off a Joe Clark (Hopkinton,
MA/Hopkinton) assist to go back up 7-4. The teams would
trade goals over the final five minutes as Pace would take an 8-6
lead into the break.
In the third quarter, the Yellow Jackets would again close the
gap, scoring the first goal of the period to slice the score to
8-7. Kolesar would answer a minute later off a Swierc assist. Clark
would put the Setters back up three with an unassisted goal late in
the third quarter. AIC would score with 1:33 left but the Setters
would respond eight seconds later as Kadlick won the faceoff and
passed it to Earl for the goal and a 11-8 Pace lead heading into
the final period.
Pellerito would scored less than a minute into the fourth
quarter but the Yellow Jackets scored on the power play at the 10
minute mark for a 12-9 Setter lead. Pace would put the game on ice
scoring six unanswered goals over the final ten minutes as Clark
scored a pair in the run, while Swierc netted another and Ospina
recorded pair of assists in the run. American International netted
a goal with one second left in game as the Setters won 18-10.
For Pace, Pellerito's six points led the Setters, while
Clark finished with five points (3G-2A). Ospina finished with three
assists, while Earl totaled three goals and one assist. Swierc
tallied a pair of goals and one assist. In net, Sean
Kearney (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac/Endicott College) recorded 15
saves in 58:15, while Kevin Grady (Medford, NY/Bellport) Medford, NY/Bellport) made one
save and allowed one goal in the final 1:45.
Pace returns to action on Saturday, April 10 when the Setters
will host Southern New Hampshire University in Northeast-10
Conference action scheduled for 1:00 pm at Pace Field.
