PACE'S FIVE GAME WIN STREAK SNAPPED AGAINST #7 BENTLEY IN 12-8 LOSS

WALTHAM, MA– The Pace University lacrosse team rallied back from an early deficit in a game against the Falcons of Bentley University, but a strong offense in the second half by the Falcons caused the Setters to fall by a 12-8 score. The Setters will now fall to 6-5 overall, and 5-3 in the Northeast-10 Conference with the loss, while the Falcons improve to 7-3 overall, and 6-2 in conference play.

Pace was led by a three goal hat trick performance from Joseph Clark (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton) (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton).

The Setters would take an early lead from the stick of Kevin Kadlick (Boston, MA/Catholic Memorial) who scored the game's first goal at the 12:25 mark.

This lead was short lived however, as the Falcons would score their first goal within the next minute to tie things up. Bentley took a solid lead after scoring two more goals before the end of the opening quarter to take a 3-1 lead.

The Falcons went up by three as they scored a goal midway through the second quarter to make the score 4-1. The momentum started to shift less than a minute later when Clark scored his first of three goals to bring the score to 4-2 before the end of the half.

The Setters kept their momentum at the start of the third quarter when Clark and Kadlick would each net a goal in the opening two minutes of the third quarter to tie the game up at four.

Bentley would turn the tables back in their favor by scoring three more goals, retaking the lead and making the score 7-4. At the 10:02 mark, Thomas Earl (North Babylon, NY/St. Anthony's) (North Babylon, NY/St. Anthony's) would take advantage of an extra man on a penalty by netting a goal to bring the score to 7-5. Clark's third goal of the game came at the 9:18 mark in the third quarter to bring the Setters within one.

Unfortunately for the Setters, Bentley would attach three more goals to the lead before the end of the third quarter to bring the game to a 10-6 score at the end of the third.

James Hammel (North Caldwell, NJ/West Essex) would get the Setters off on the right foot at the start of the fourth quarter by firing in a goal at the 12:40 mark to bring the game to a 10-7 score.

Bentley gave some more distance to the lead midway through the fourth with two more goals to make it a 12-7 lead.

Hammel would net one last goal for the Setters before the end of the game bringing the game to the final score of 12-8.

In the net, Sean Kearney (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac/Endicott College) went the distance recording nine saves in the entire 60 minutes of action.

Pace returns to action on Wednesday, April 28 when the Setters face off against the Panthers of Adelphi University in a NE-10 game set for a 3 pm start at Pace Field. The match up against the Panthers will also be Pace's senior day game.
