Box Score PACE'S FIVE GAME WIN STREAK
SNAPPED AGAINST #7 BENTLEY IN 12-8 LOSS
WALTHAM, MA– The Pace University lacrosse team rallied
back from an early deficit in a game against the Falcons of Bentley
University, but a strong offense in the second half by the Falcons
caused the Setters to fall by a 12-8 score. The Setters will now
fall to 6-5 overall, and 5-3 in the Northeast-10 Conference with
the loss, while the Falcons improve to 7-3 overall, and 6-2 in
conference play.
Pace was led by a three goal hat trick performance from
Joseph Clark (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton)
(Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton).
The Setters would take an early lead from the stick of
Kevin
Kadlick (Boston, MA/Catholic Memorial) who scored the
game's first goal at the 12:25 mark.
This lead was short lived however, as the Falcons would score
their first goal within the next minute to tie things up. Bentley
took a solid lead after scoring two more goals before the end of
the opening quarter to take a 3-1 lead.
The Falcons went up by three as they scored a goal midway
through the second quarter to make the score 4-1. The momentum
started to shift less than a minute later when Clark scored his
first of three goals to bring the score to 4-2 before the end of
the half.
The Setters kept their momentum at the start of the third
quarter when Clark and Kadlick would each net a goal in the opening
two minutes of the third quarter to tie the game up at four.
Bentley would turn the tables back in their favor by scoring
three more goals, retaking the lead and making the score 7-4. At
the 10:02 mark, Thomas Earl (North Babylon, NY/St. Anthony's) (North Babylon,
NY/St. Anthony's) would take advantage of an extra man on
a penalty by netting a goal to bring the score to 7-5. Clark's
third goal of the game came at the 9:18 mark in the third quarter
to bring the Setters within one.
Unfortunately for the Setters, Bentley would attach three more
goals to the lead before the end of the third quarter to bring the
game to a 10-6 score at the end of the third.
James
Hammel (North Caldwell, NJ/West Essex) would get the
Setters off on the right foot at the start of the fourth quarter by
firing in a goal at the 12:40 mark to bring the game to a 10-7
score.
Bentley gave some more distance to the lead midway through the
fourth with two more goals to make it a 12-7 lead.
Hammel would net one last goal for the Setters before the end of
the game bringing the game to the final score of 12-8.
In the net, Sean Kearney (Mahopac,
NY/Mahopac/Endicott College) went the distance recording
nine saves in the entire 60 minutes of action.
Pace returns to action on Wednesday, April 28 when the Setters
face off against the Panthers of Adelphi University in a NE-10 game
set for a 3 pm start at Pace Field. The match up against the
Panthers will also be Pace's senior day game.
