Box Score SETTERS DROP NE-10 GAME
RAVENS IN LATE INNINGS
PLEASANTVILLE, NY- Pace University's baseball team was
lost to Franklin Pierce, after the Ravens broke a 3-3 tie with two
runs in the top of the ninth to win 5-3 in Northeast-10 Conference
action. The Setters fall to 11-23 overall, and 5-14 in the
Northeast-10 Conference, while the Ravens improve to 26-10 overall
and 12-4 in conference play this season.
The bats were loud from the start, as the Ravens were quick to
push across two runs in the top of the first. Pace got on the board
in the bottom half of the first, after a double by Vinny
Dammann (Mullica Hill, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) drove home
the Setters' first run. Dammann would go 2-for-4 on the day
with the RBI double and a run scored.
The Setters would take the lead in the bottom of the fourth when
Kenny Wright (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) would
hit a bases loaded single to tie the game, which was followed by
Robert Horn (Stamford, CT/Westhill) (Stamford, CT/Westhill) drawing a
bases loaded walk to give the Setters a 3-2 lead.
This lead was short lived as Franklin Pierce would bring home a
run in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game at three. From
there, the game would remain scoreless until the top of the ninth
when the Ravens pushed across the eventual winning runs.
Michael Sciaretta (Stamford, CT/Stamford)
started on the mound for the Setters in this game, pitching 8 1/3
innings giving up five runs (four earned) on 12 hits, two walks,
and seven strikeouts.
The Setters will return to action tomorrow when they play
Franklin Pierce University in a rematch starting at noon on
Pace's Finnerty Field.
