Box Score CAMASTRO PITCHES COMPLETE
GAME IN NE-10 WIN OVER GREYHOUNDS
PLEASANTVILLE, NY- Chris Camastro (Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington) (Lagrangeville,
NY/Arlington) tossed a complete game in the Setters 9-2
over conference foe Assumption College this afternoon. The junior
gave up two earned runs on eight hits, three strikeouts and a walk.
The Setters now improve to 10-22 overall and 5-13 in conference
play, while the Greyhounds fall to 19-14 overall, and 7-7 in the
Northeast-10 Conference.
The Greyhounds gained an early lead after pushing across a run
in the first. Laurence Flammia (Massapeaqua Park, NY/St. Anthony's) (Massapeaqua Park, NY/St.
Anthony's) would tie the game in the bottom of the
first with a two out RBI single.
Pace took the lead in the next inning when Chris Roemer (Ardsley, NY/Ardsley)
(Ardsley, NY/Ardsley) led off the inning with a triple.
Roemer would then score on a Kyle Turnier (Waterford, CT/Waterford) (Waterford,
CT/Waterford) single to make the score 2-1.
Assumption tied the game in the top half of the third, but it
wouldn't be tied for long as the Setters would score the go
ahead run in the bottom of the fourth. The Setters half of the
fourth was led off with a Kenny Wright (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) (Middle Island,
NY/Longwood) double, which was followed by a Roemer
single.
The Setters would expand the lead in the bottom of the sixth
when Patrick Chaputian (Sea Cliff, NY/North Shore) (Sea Cliff, NY/North Shore)
drove home a run to make the score 4-2.
Pace opened up the game in the bottom of the seventh when the
Setters scored four runs. Wright was hit by a pitch to start the
inning, and after a Roemer single, Wright would score on a hit by
Michael Rodriguez (East Hampton, NY/East Hampton) (East Hampton, NY/East Hampton).
A bunt single by Turnier, followed by a sacrifice bunt by
Robert Horn (Stamford, CT/Westhill) (Stamford, CT/Westhill) would bring
home both Roemer and Rodriguez. A Mike Torello (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) (Cheshire,
CT/Cheshire) double would score the fourth and final run
of the inning to make the score 8-2.
The Setters would put the game away in the bottom of the eighth,
when a Rodriguez sacrifice fly ball scored the final run of the
game for Pace.
The Setters will return to action tomorrow for a non-Conference
game against Domincan College at 3:30 pm on Pace's Finnerty
Field.
