CAMASTRO PITCHES COMPLETE GAME IN NE-10 WIN OVER GREYHOUNDS

PLEASANTVILLE, NY- Chris Camastro (Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington) (Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington) tossed a complete game in the Setters 9-2 over conference foe Assumption College this afternoon. The junior gave up two earned runs on eight hits, three strikeouts and a walk. The Setters now improve to 10-22 overall and 5-13 in conference play, while the Greyhounds fall to 19-14 overall, and 7-7 in the Northeast-10 Conference.

The Greyhounds gained an early lead after pushing across a run in the first. Laurence Flammia (Massapeaqua Park, NY/St. Anthony's) (Massapeaqua Park, NY/St. Anthony's) would tie the game in the bottom of the first with a two out RBI single.

Pace took the lead in the next inning when Chris Roemer (Ardsley, NY/Ardsley) (Ardsley, NY/Ardsley) led off the inning with a triple. Roemer would then score on a Kyle Turnier (Waterford, CT/Waterford) (Waterford, CT/Waterford) single to make the score 2-1.

Assumption tied the game in the top half of the third, but it wouldn't be tied for long as the Setters would score the go ahead run in the bottom of the fourth. The Setters half of the fourth was led off with a Kenny Wright (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) double, which was followed by a Roemer single.

The Setters would expand the lead in the bottom of the sixth when Patrick Chaputian (Sea Cliff, NY/North Shore) (Sea Cliff, NY/North Shore) drove home a run to make the score 4-2.

Pace opened up the game in the bottom of the seventh when the Setters scored four runs. Wright was hit by a pitch to start the inning, and after a Roemer single, Wright would score on a hit by Michael Rodriguez (East Hampton, NY/East Hampton) (East Hampton, NY/East Hampton). A bunt single by Turnier, followed by a sacrifice bunt by Robert Horn (Stamford, CT/Westhill) (Stamford, CT/Westhill) would bring home both Roemer and Rodriguez. A Mike Torello (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) double would score the fourth and final run of the inning to make the score 8-2.

The Setters would put the game away in the bottom of the eighth, when a Rodriguez sacrifice fly ball scored the final run of the game for Pace.

The Setters will return to action tomorrow for a non-Conference game against Domincan College at 3:30 pm on Pace's Finnerty Field.
