LEADS SETTERS TO 9-4 WIN OVER PENMEN
PELLERITO'S FOUR POINTS AIDS IN PACE WIN
PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y.– James Hammel (N. Caldwell, NJ/West Essex) (North Caldwell,
NJ/West Essex) recorded a hat trick as the Setters won
their third straight game in a 9-4 win over the Penmen of Southern
New Hampshire in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Setters even
their record at .500 at 4-4 and 3-2 in the NE-10, while the Penmen
fall to 3-6 and 1-4 in conference play.
The teams traded goals in the opening quarter as Joe
Clark (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton) put the Setters on the
board at the 10:28 mark. The Penmen would answer less than a minute
later on an Alex Whitney score to tie the game at one.
The Setters would capitalize on a pair of Southern New Hampshire
penalties in the second quarter as Nicholas Pellerito (Glen Cove, NY/Kellenberg) (Glen
Cove, NY/Kellenberg) assisted on both man-up goals.
Thomas Earl (North Babylon, NY/St. Anthony's) (North Babylon, NY/St.
Anthony's) would put the Setters up 2-1 at the 14:39
mark, while Hammel got the first of his trifecta of goals at the
6:45 mark of the second quarter to put Pace up 3-1 at halftime.
Pace would break the game open in the third quarter, scoring
five in a row as Hammel extended the Setters lead to 4-1 with 14:09
left in the quarter. Joe Arlotta (Garden City Park, NY/St. Mary's) (Garden City Park, NY/St.
Mary's), John Kolesar (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) (Warwick, NY/Warwick
Valley) and Pellerito would net unassisted goals in the
run for a 7-1 Setter lead with 4:06 remaining in the third quarter.
Earl would score on the power play, with Pellerito earning his
third assist of the day at the 3:15 mark. The Penmen would add a
pair of late Greg Reynolds goals in the quarter to slice the score
to 8-3 heading into the final quarter.
Southern New Hampshire would score on the power play early in
the fourth quarter to cut the score to 8-4 but that would the
Penmen's final tally of the day. Hammel would cap the scoring
at the 2:34 mark as the Setters would keep the Penmen offense in
check the rest of the way.
For Pace, Hammel's three goals led the way, while
Pellerito finished with a goal and three assists. Earl totaled two
goals on the day. In net, Sean Kearney (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac/Endicott College ) (Mahopac,
NY/Mahopac/Endicott College) recorded 17 saves 60 minutes
of action.
Pace returns to action on Saturday, April 17 when the Setters
travel to Colchester, VT for a Northeast-10 Conference game
scheduled for 12:00 pm.
