Box Score PACE FALLS 3-1 IN NE-10 GAME
AGAINST NEW HAVEN
WEST HAVEN, CT- The Setters dropped a Northeast-10 conference
game this afternoon to the University of New Haven Chargers 3-1.
Pace falls to 6-15 overall and 2-7 in the Northeast-10 Conference
this season, while New Haven improves to 16-5 overall and 5-3 in
conference play.
This game was a pitcher's duel until the top of the fourth
inning, when Pace's Kyle Turnier (Waterford, CT/Waterford) (Waterford,
CT/Waterford) started small rally with a one out double to
center. Patrick Chaputian (Sea Cliff, NY/North Shore) (Sea Cliff, NY/North
Shore) would follow Turnier with a single up the middle to
move Turnier to third. Robert Horn (Stamford, CT/Westhill) (Stamford,
CT/Westhill) would drive in Turnier with a single to the
shortstop to give Pace a 1-0 lead.
Unfortunately, one run is all the Setters would put across as
the Chargers would bounce back in the bottom half of the fourth to
tie the game at one.
New Haven would push across two more runs in the bottom of the
seventh inning to give them a 3-1 lead which would ultimately be
the final score.
Brian Sundberg (Westbury, NY/WT Clarke) (Westbury, NY/WT Clarke) started
on the mound for the Setters, pitching 6 1/3 innings giving up
three earned runs on nine hits, while striking out eight.
The Setters return to action tomorrow when they go head to head
against the Falcons of Bentley University in Waltham, MA at 2 pm in
a Northeast-10 Conference matchup.
