WORCESTER, MA- Kevin Kadlick (Boston, MA/Catholic Memorial) (Boston, MA/Catholic
Memorial) and Joe Clark (Hopkinton,
MA/Hopkinton) each tallied three points as the Setters
dropped a Northeast-10 Conference game to the Greyhounds of
Assumption College 8-6. The Setters fall to 3-5 and 2-3 in
conference play, while the Greyhounds improve to 5-5 and 2-3 in the
NE-10.
Kadlick and Clark got Pace off to a strong start as each tallied
a first quarter goal as the teams battled to an 2-2 tie after the
opening period. The Greyhounds would outshoot the Setters 13-3 in
the second quarter, outscoring Pace 3-0 as Assumption took a 5-2
lead into halftime.
James Hammel (N. Caldwell, NJ/West Essex) (North Caldwell, NJ/West Essex)
pulled the Setters within two with a goal early in the third
quarter. Assumption would answer with a goal with 4:35 left in the
period but Jake Sheppard (Brunswick East, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia/East Victoria) (Brunswick East,
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia/Northcote)
netted a man-down goal with nine seconds left to keep Pace within
two goals heading into the final period.
Sheppard brought Pace to within one goal at 6-5 with a score 25
seconds into the fourth quarter. Assumption responded with a goal
at the 8:21 mark and another just over a minute later to pull ahead
by three at 8-5. Clark would tally a late score for the Setters but
it was not enough as Pace would fall by three.
For Pace, Clark (2G, 1A) and Kadlick (1G, 2A) led the way for
Pace, while Sheppard tallied a pair of goals. Goaltender
Timothy Matheis (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst)
played 60 minutes, recording 15 saves.
Pace returns to action when they host the Hawks of Saint Anselm
College in a Northeast-10 Conference game on Saturday, April 11 at
1 pm at Pace Field on Pace's Pleasantville campus.
