SETTERS GET TRIPPED UP BY PENMEN 4-2

MANCHESTER, NH - The Pace University baseball team lost another close NE-10 conference battle to the Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University, 4-2, on Tuesday afternoon at Penmen Field.

The Setters with the loss fall to 11-18-1 for the season, and 6-8 in the NE-10. The Penmen will improve to 9-15 overall, and 6-7 in conference play.

The two starting pitchers dominated the first five innings of the game as the two offenses could only manage six hits.

The sixth inning featured all the scoring in the game as the Setters got the scoring started first in the top of the sixth. Andre Liscinsky (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) led off the inning with a single to right field. With one out, and Liscinsky now on third, Kenny Wright (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) hit an RBI single down the right field line to drive in Liscinsky for a 1-0 lead. Joe Cotone (Yorktown Hts., NY/Lakeland) (Yorktown Heights, NY/Lakeland) stepped up to the plate next for Pace, and drilled an RBI double to deep centerfield to push the Setters lead up to 2-0.

Pace starter Chris Camastro (Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington) (Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington) (0-2) couldn't hold down the Setters lead as the Penmen scored four runs off him, on three hits, in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 4-2 lead.

The Setters couldn't solve the Penmen's starting pitcher Ryan Quinn (2-3) who pitched a complete game giving up two runs to go along with 14 strikeouts.

Pace will be back home tomorrow as they will host Adelphi University at Finnerty Field. The game is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
