SETTERS 4-0
PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The Pace University
baseball team lost a tough non-conference matchup to the Chargers
of Dominican College 4-0 on a cold Wednesday afternoon at Finnerty
Field. The Setters are now 5-3-1 at Finnerty Field this season.
The loss will drop Pace to 9-15-1 on the year, while the win
will improve Dominican to 14-8 overall.
Pace starter Michael Tamburino (Baldwin, NY/Holy Trinity) (Baldwin, NY/Holy
Trinity) (1-1) struggled early on as the Chargers as
Dominican took a 3-0 after three innings. Tamburino went four
innings on the day giving up three runs on four hits. He also
struck out six, while walking three in his outing.
The lone offensive standout in the game for the Setters was
centerfielder Chris Spatkowski (Bristol, CT/Bristol
Eastern). Spatkowski had three of the four Pace hits in
the game which brought his average from .253 up to .276 in the
losing effort.
Dominican starter Victor Cosme (Brooklyn, NY/James Madison)
(1-0) held the rest of the Setters in check as he pitched seven
shutout innings of three hit ball.
Pace will return to the field tomorrow as they will host
Southern Connecticut State University. The game is scheduled to
start at 3:30 p.m.
