ASSUMPTION PROVES TO BE TOO TALL OF A TASK AS PACE FALLS 81-67
PACE GETS OUT-REBOUNDED 56-26 IN LOSS

PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The Pace University men's basketball team lost a physical Northeast-10 conference matchup to the Greyhounds of Assumption by the score of 81-67. With the loss Pace will fall to 6-6 on the season with a 4-3 mark in the Northeast-10, while Assumption will improve to 8-5 on the year and 6-3 in conference play. Pace falls to 4-3 at home in the Goldstein Fitness Center this season.

Both teams came out trading baskets in the early going as no one could get any real separation with the score being 16-14 at the halfway point of the first half. Pace started the game very aggressive on the offensive end as they got six of their first 14 points from the free-throw line. Assumption then went on to use a 7-0 run to go ahead by nine 25-16 with 7:19 left in the first half. Pace continued to chip away at the Greyhounds lead getting it down to five at 37-32 at the half. The Setters stayed close due in large part to the play of Ryan Woods (Staten Island, NY/St. Peters Boys) (Staten Island, NY/Saint Peter's) who had 10 first half points for Pace. Pace shot 42 percent from the field in the first half with only five turnovers.

The start of the second half saw Assumption pushing the tempo on the Setters as they displayed solid ball movement which helped the Greyhounds extend their lead to 13 at 65-52 with 8:42 left in the game. Pace clawed their way back into it getting to within seven with Laurence McGhee (Linden, NJ/Linden) (Linden, NJ/Linden) leading the Setters in the second half with his constant penetration, and free-throw shooting. McGhee was 7-of-9 from the free-throw line in the second half, and he also dished out his 300th career assist in the period as well. Assumption's size proved to be the difference in the end as Pace ran out of energy down the stretch, and wound up losing by 14. The Setters were out-rebounded in the game 56-26 which saw the Greyhounds dominate in second chance points 24-4.

Pace was led by Laurence McGhee (Linden, NJ/Linden) who finished with a game-high 21 points, a team-high four assists, and five steals. The Setters also got a solid game from Ryan Woods (Staten Island, NY/St. Peters Boys) who had 17 points, five rebounds, and two steals. Adrian Mills (Woodbridge, VA/Paul VI) (Woodbridge, VA/Paul VI) had a nice game as well with six points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

The Setters will be back in action on Thursday, January 8th as they travel to Franklin Pierce University. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
