LACROSSE ENDS SEASON WITH LOSS TO SAINT ANSELM

MANCHESTER, NH- The Pace men's lacrosse team drop their season finale to the Hawks of Saint Anselm College 14-9, in the Northeast-10 Conference game. The Setters end the season with a 7-8 overall record and finish 4-6 in the NE-10, while the Hawks finish the regular season at 8-6 and 6-4 in conference play.

The Hawks got on the board first scoring a goal just over a minute into the game. The Setters rallied with three unanswered as Ryan Gregory (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) and T.J. Urban (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) gave Pace a 2-1 lead, netting scored less than a minute apart. Jake Sheppard (Brunswick East, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia/Northcote) would give the Setters a two goal advantage as he netted a tally with 2:03 left in the opening period.

Saint Anselm would rally would three unanswered goals to start the second quarter, taking a 4-3 lead with 9:52 left in the second. Pace would close out the half with four unanswered goals to take a 7-4 lead into the break. Gregory had the tying goal while Sheppard put the Setter ahead with 5:52 left in the half. Joe Page (Eagan, MN/Eagan) (Eagan, MN/Eagan) and Ben Volen (Mt. Airy, MD/Linganore) (Mt. Airy, MD/Linganore) accounted for the final two goals of the first half.

The teams would trade goals as Gregory's third goal of the day at the 4:38 mark of the third, gave the Setters an 8-5 lead. The Hawks offense would rally with five unanswered goals to jump ahead 10-8 with 11:48 left in the game. Gregory's fourth goal of the day would slice the Setter deficit in half at 10-9 at the 8:42 mark but the Hawks would tack on four more goals for the final 14-9 score, handing the Setters a loss to end their season.

In net, Timothy Matheis (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) recorded 13 saves in the game to take the loss.
