Box Score BASEBALL FALLS TO SAINT ROSE IN FIRST OF
THREE-GAME SET
ALBANY, NY- The Pace baseball team fell to the College of Saint
Rose 8-4 in the first game of a three game set between the two
teams. The series will concluded on Sunday, May 6 with a
doubleheader on Pace's Pleasantville campus.
The Golden Knights took the lead in the second on a two-run
homerun. The Setters rallied in the fourth as Matt Arburr (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) blasted a
two-run shot, driving in Ted Mullen (Madison, CT/Chaote Rosemary Hall) who singled with one out.
Back-to-back singles by Neil Ross (Cortland Manor, NY/Dominican College) and Chris Brown kept the Setters
inning alive. Both runners moved up a base on a balk and the
Setters took took the lead as Brown scored on a groundout. Saint
Rose woudl tie the game in the fifth on a sac fly.
The Setters threatened in the seventh on three straight one-out
singles by Adam Harwood (Los Angeles, CA/Brentwood), Jack Cawley (Bronx, NY/Iona Prep) and Joe Barracato (Westbury, NY/Clarke) loaded the
bases. Mullen would put the Setters back in the lead on a
groundout, allowing Harwood to score.
Saint Rose would regain the advantage putting together
back-to-back big innings, scoring twice in the seventh and three
more times in the eighth to take control of the game and pick up
the win.
On the hill, Dustin Corbett (Vestal, NY/Vestal) tossed 6 2/3 innings, allowing six
hits and five runs, while striking out six. Zach Dayton (North Falmouth, MA/Falmouth) came on in
relief, pitching 1/3 of an inning allowing one hit and one run.
MacKenzie King (Blairstown, NJ/North Warren Regional) came on for the final inning, giving up two hits and
a pair of unearned runs, while fanning three.
The Setters and Golden Knights wrap up the series on Sunday, May
6 for a twin bill starting at noon. Prior to the doubleheader, the
Setters will honor their four seniors.
