Box Score BASEBALL DEFEATS UMASS LOWELL

LOWELL, MA- The Pace baseball team defeated UMass
Lowell, 6-4, in the first of a three game series. The teams will
travel to Pleasantville for a Saturday doubleheader starting at 1
pm.
The Setters got on the board in the second as Matt
Arburr crushed a two-run homer to drive in Ted Mullen (Madison, CT/Chaote Rosemary Hall) who led off
with single. The River Hawks rallied scoring singles runs in
the second and third to tied the game at two.
Jack Cawley (Bronx, NY/Iona Prep) reached base to lead off the fourth on
an error and stole second. Cawley moved to third on a Mullen single
and scored on a sac fly by Arburr. Mullen stole second and came
around to score on a double by Neil Ross (Cortland Manor, NY/Dominican College). Lowell cut the lead in
half scoring a run in their half of the four before Arburr hit his
second homer of the afternoon in the sixth. The Setters tacked on
an insurance run in the eighth as Arburr had a run scoring single.
Arburr (3-for-3 two HRs, two runs, five RBI) and
Mullen (2-for-4 two runs) combined to go 5-for-7 on the afternoon
to lead the Setter attack and key the victory.
Angelo Fusaro (Stamford, CT/Westhill) started, going 3 2/3 innings,
allowing eight hits and three runs (two earned), while fanning two.
Michael Sheehy (Pelham, NY/Pelham Memorial) came on in relief tossing 2 1/3 inning, giving up
one run and one hit. Eric Brown (Norwalk, CT/Norwalk) closed out the final three innings
of shut-out, no-hit ball, earning his second win of the season.
