Box Score PACE CRUISES TO 13-4 WIN OVER FRANKLIN

PLEASANTVILLE, NY- Junior attacker Ryan Gregory (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage)
(Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) accounted for two goals and an
assist in the opening quarter as the Pace scored four unanswered
goals to start the game and cruised to a 13-4 win over Franklin
Pierce. Gregory finished the afternoon with three goals and a pair
of assists. The Setters improve to 5-2 overall and evens its
conference record a 2-2, while the Ravens drop to 1-4 overall and
1-3 in the NE-10.
Robert Cornetta (Huntington Station, NY/Half Hollow Hills West) (Huntington Station, NY/Half Hollow
Hills West) kicked off the scoring for Pace netting an
unassisted scored just over three minutes into the contest.
Freshman attacker James Hammel (North Caldwell, NJ/West
Essex) scored two minutes later off a Gregory assist,
before Gregory put the Setters up 4-0 with back-to-back scores. The
Ravens' Brendan Rooney scored Franklin Pierce's first goal with
4:25 left in the quarter.
The second quarter featured the freshman Hammel as he netted the
only three goals by either team in the period, including two man-up
scores. Hammel's power-play goals were assisted by Gregory and
T.J. Urban (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) respectively.
Pace's Dan Abberton (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville)
and Gregory opened the second half scoring for the Setters, taking
a 9-1 lead. Franklin Pierce's Roony netted a goal with 4:47 left in
the quarter. Frank Argento (Lawrence, NY/Lawrence) (Lawrence, NY/Lawrence)
closed out the scoring, tallying a man-up score at the 1:59 mark
off an Urban assist.
Luke Ferreira cut into the Setters lead with a pair of goals in
less than one minute early in the final period. Ferreira's scores
proved to be the last for the Ravens as Cornetta, Urban and
Joseph Roskop (Bellmore, NY/Bellmore JFK) (Bellmore, NY/Bellmore JFK) all
netted a goal over the final 8:12
For Pace, in addition to Gregory's five points, Hammel finished
with four goals, while Urban tallied a goal and three assists.
Cornetta recorded two goals and one assist.
In net, Timothy Matheis (Lindenhurst, NY/Lindenhurst) (Lindenhurst,
NY/Lindenhurst) played the entire first half and just
under seven minutes in the third quarter, recording 4saves, while
allowing one goals to move his season record to 5-1. Thomas
Duca (Waltham, MA/Waltham) came on in relief, playing just
over 16 minutes, giving up three goals, while stopping two shot.
Andrew Williams (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow)
closed out the final 6:51 without allowing a goal, while recording
six saves.
The Setters return to action on Thursday, April 5th
when they travel to Worcester, MA to take on Northeast-10
Conference opponent Assumption College at 5:00 pm.
