Box Score #10 LACROSSE FALLS TO #9 BRYANT
SMITHFIELD, RI - The newly
top-10 ranked Setters men's lacrosse lost to the #9 ranked Bulldogs
of Bryant University, 13-7. Pace falls to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in
the NE-10, while the Bulldogs improve to 2-2 and 1-0 in conference
play.
Bryant opened the game, netting the first four goals to take an
early lead. Dan Abberton (Hicksville, NY/Hicksville) got the Setters on the board at the 4:12
mark off an assist by Robert Cornetta (Huntington Station, NY/Half Hollow Hills West). The Bulldogs added a late
1st period goal to lead 5-1. Scoring was light in the
second period but the Setters rallied as Jake Shepard and James
Hammell notched a goal each. Bryant added a late tally to take a
6-3 lead into the break.
The Setters opened the third period with a goal, cutting the
lead to 6-4 but that was as close as Pace could get. Bryant
responded with three unanswered goals over a 2:30 period to push
their advantage to 9-4. Cornetta and T.J. Urban (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) netted a pair of
tallies for the Setters to trail 9-6. Bryant took control, scoring
one goal late in the third and three more to open the final period
to take a 13-6 lead. Joseph Streany (Croton, NY/Croton-Harmon) netted a late score but the
Setters fell 13-7.
