Box Score PACE CRUISES TO 17-2 VICTORY OVER AMERICAN
INTERNATIONAL
PLEASANTVILLE, NY - The Pace University men's lacrosse team
rolled to a 17-2 win over American International College in a
Northeast-10 Conference match-up at Pace Field on the Pleasantville
campus of Pace University. Pace improves to 2-4 overall and
2-3 in the Northeast-10 Conference while the Yellow Jackets remain
winless at 0-6 overall and in NE-10 play.
The Setters scored early and often against American
International, tallying six goals in each of the first two periods.
For the half, the Setters' Justin Page (Eagan, MN/Eagan) (Eagan,
MN/Eagan) scored four goals, while Ken Lysik (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton)
(Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton) added a pair of goals and one
assist. John Valentini (Brewster, NY/Mt. St. Michael) (Brewster, NY/Mt. St.
Michael) added two assists in the half. Freshman
Richard Sparks (Malvern, PA/Malvern) (Malvern, Pa/Malvern) scored his
first collegiate goal in the opening period and netted his second
one to close out the first half. Joe Roskop (Bellmore, NY/Bellmore JFK) (Bellmore,
NY/Bellmore JFK) also netted his first goal of the season
as Pace took a 12-0 lead into the halftime.
The second half saw less scoring but several first season goals
for the Setters. Ben Volen (Mt. Airy, MD/Linganore) (Mt. Airy,
MD/Linganore), Oren Raphael (Hewlett, NY/GW Hewlett) (Hewlett, NY/GW
Hewlett), Thomas Duca (Waltham, MA/Waltham) (Waltham,
MA/Waltham) and Valentini scored for Pace in the second
half, while Sparks netted another goal for his third of the day.
The Yellow Jackets got on the board late, as Mike Szawlowski
(Leeds, MA/Northampton) scored on a power play off an assist from
Richard Reichert (Nesconset, NY/St. Anthony's) with 8:50 left in
the game. Neil Sullivan (Buffalo, NY/Bishop Thomas St. Jude) added
a late goal for American International with five seconds remaining
in the game to close out the scoring for the day.
In goal, Duca played a shutout first half, tallying one save.
Andrew Williams (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) (East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) saw
his first action in net on the season, playing the final two
periods, allowing two goals and stopping two shots. For American
International, Luke Legendre (Uxbridge, MA/Uxbridge) played the
entire game, allowing 17 goals, while recording 16 saves.
The Setters return to action when they travel to Syracuse, NY to
take on Northeast-10 Conference foe LeMoyne College on Saturday
April 8 at 1:00 pm.
