Box Score SETTERS FALL TO FRANKLIN PIERCE,

PLEASANTVILLE, NY - The Pace University baseball team lost to
Northeast-10 Conference foe Franklin Pierce College, 2-0, in an
NE-10 match-up at Dr. Pappas Field in Rindge, NH. Pace goes
to 25-15 overall and 10-9 in the Northeast-10 while Franklin Pierce
improves to 34-9 overall and 19-5 in conference play.
Pace starter Matt Reilly (Denville, NJ/Morris Knolls) (Denville, NJ/Morris
Knolls) took the loss despite looking very sharp early
on. Reilly was perfect through the first three innings and
retired 14 of the first 16 batters he faced. In the
6th, Reilly struck out the first two batters he faced
before giving up a single to left field to Elliot Shea (Jaffrey,
NH), who then proceeded to steal second base. Mike Chambers
(Londonderry, NH) then followed with a single through the left
side, moving Shea to third base. The Ravens would take a 1-0
lead when Shea then proceeded to steal home before Reilly retired
the side.
Franklin Pierce would take a 2-0 lead in the 7th
after Bryan Duplissie (East Swanzey, NH) walked to lead off the
inning. Duplissie would advance to second on a sacrifice bunt
and then to third on a ground ball to the first baseman. Kim
Hart (Gorham, ME) followed with a single, scoring Duplissie to go
up 2-0.
Reilly pitched his 3rd consecutive complete game of
the season as he allowed both earned runs on four hits over eight
innings while striking out seven. His counterpart, Arric
Mather (Danville, NH) picked up the win after holding Pace
scoreless over seven innings, scattering seven hits and striking
out seven. Mike Farrell (Russell, MA) pitched the final two
innings, striking out three, to pick up his 2nd save of
the season.
Pace returns to action when they host the College of Saint Rose
on Thursday, April 29th at 3:30 p.m. at Finnerty Field
on the Pleasantville campus of Pace University.
