Box Score SETTERS FALL TO DOWLING, 11-4
PLEASANTVILLE, NY - The Pace University  men's lacrosse
team dropped a non-conference game to Dowling College, 11-4, on the
Pleasantville campus of Pace University. Pace drops to 3-6 overall,
while Dowling improves its record to 8-1 on the season.
Dowling controlled the game from the outset, scoring five
unanswered goals in the first half. Chris Dupignac tallied two
goals and one assist, while CJ Leary added a pair of goals. Nick
Cotter also scored for the Lions in the first half. Pace tallied a
late goal as Ryan Gregory (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage)
netted a score off an assist by Rob Cornetta (Huntington
Station, NY/Half Hollow Hills W) with 15 seconds left in
the half to put the Setters down 5-1 at halftime.
Dowling pulled away from the Setters in the second half as Dupinac
scored his third goal of the day, while assisting on another. Leary
added two more goals, while Cotter totaled one goal and one assist
for the half. For Pace, Andrew O'Boyle (Floral Park, NY/Floral Park) (Floral Park,
NY/Floral Park) scored the lone Setter goal in the third
period off an assist from Ken Lysik (Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton) (Hopkinton,
MA/Hopkinton). In the final period, TJ Urban
(Kinnelon, NY/Kinnelon) assisted on a goal by
Justin Page (Eagan, MN/Eagan) (Eagan, MN/Eagan) with 13:57 left in
the game. Lysik capped the scoring on the afternoon, tallying an
unassisted goal with 3:23 remaining in the game.
In net for Pace, Thomas Duca (Waltham, MA/Waltham) (Waltham, MA/Waltham)
started and played the entire first half, allowing five goals,
while stopping 11 shots. Tim Matheis (Lindenhurst,
NY/Lindenhurst) came on in relief in the second half,
surrendering six goals, while recording 11 saves. For Dowling, Nick
Tracey allowed three Setter goals, while saving 13 in just over 53
minutes of action. Leyland Davis closed out the final six minutes
of the game, allowing a goal by Lysik.
The Setters embark on a three game road swing over the next week
to face Northeast-10 Conference opponents. The first of these games
comes on Saturday, April 15 to play Franklin Pierce College at 1:00
