Box Score PACE FALLS TO BRYANT, 12-8
PLEASANTVILLE, NY – The Pace University men's lacrosse
team lost to Bryant University, 12-8, in a Northeast-10 Conference
match-up at Pace Field on the Pleasantville campus of Pace
University. Pace drops to 1-2 overall and 1-2 in the
Northeast-10 Conference while Bryant improves to 4-1 overall and
2-0 in NE-10 play.
Sophomore Justin Page (Eagan, MN/Eagan) (Eagan, MD/Eagan) scored the game's
first goal at the 12:21 mark on an assist from senior Kenneth Lysik
(Hopkinton, MA/Hopkinton). The Setters would take a 3-0 lead
on goals by Ryan Gregory (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage) and Joseph Infante
(Sleepy Hollow, NY/ Sleepy Hollow), both on assists by freshman
T.J. Urban (Kinnelon, NY/Kinnelon) (Kinnelon, NJ/ Kinnelon). Urban would finish with
four assists on the day.
Down 3-0, Bryant rattled off five unanswered goals as Matt
McKeefrey (Melville, NY/ Half Hollow Hills East) and Kevin Hoagland
(Glastonbury, CT/ Glastonbury) each scored two goals while Bryan
Kauffman (Putnam Valley, NY/ Mahopac) also chipped in to give
Bryant a 5-3 lead with 7:27 remaining in the first half.
Gregory would score on an assist by Urban to tie the game at 5-5,
while Robert Cornetta (Huntington Station, NY/Half Hollow Hills West) (Huntington Station, NY/ Half Hollow Hills
West) also netted one for the Setters, unassisted.
Bryant's McKeefrey would score with nine seconds remaining in
the half to give Bryant a 6-5 lead heading into intermission.
Bryant picked up where they left off as they rattled off four
straight goals in the second half to take a 10-5 lead with 12
minutes remaining in the game. McKeefrey would score his
3rd and 4th goals of the game, while Craig
Buckhout (South Salem, NY/ John Jay) would also score and Kauffman
would net a pair to give him three on the day. Kauffman would
score again in the 4th quarter to give him four on the
day. He also had two assists in the game while Buckhout
finished with three assists.
Zach Rosenow (Oyster Bay, NY/ Friends Academy) would cap off the
scoring for Bryant on the afternoon, while Lysik and Steve Moriarty
(Wantagh, NY/ Wantagh) would also score in the Setters'
loss.
For Pace, Gregory and Page would each score twice while Urban
finished with four assists. In net, Timothy Matheis (Lindehurst, NY/Lindehurst)
(Lindehurst, NY/ Lindehurst) had 10 saves in 60 minutes. For
Bryant, Michael Kennedy (Port Jefferson, NY/ Comsewogue) had two
saves in the first half, before giving way to Brad Burkhardt
(Branford, CT/ Branford) who had three saves in the second
half.
Pace returns to action when they travel to Colchester, VT. on
Saturday, April 1st to take on the Purple Knights of
Saint Michael's College in a Northeast-10 Conference match-up
slated for 1:00 p.m.
