Box Score SETTERS WIN DOG FIGHT, BEAT 'HOUNDS 86-61
PLEASANTVILLE, NY – The Pace University men's
basketball team defeated Assumption College, 86-61, in a
Northeast-10 Conference game at the Goldstein Health, Fitness and
Recreation Center on the Pleasantville campus of Pace
University. With the win, Pace improves to 3-1 overall and
2-1 in the Northeast-10 Conference while Assumption drops to 1-3
overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Pace held a 33-28 lead at halftime, but led by as many as 15
points in the half. Ryan Williams (Centreville, VA/Paul VI) (Centreville,
VA) scored Pace's first eight points on his way to
10 for the half on 4-of-5 shooting from the floor, including 2-of-3
from 3-point range. Pace used a run of 16-to-5 over an eight
minute span to give them their 15 point lead. In the run,
seven different Setters scored, while Mike Rossetti (Lake
Ronkonkoma, NY) had a three-pointer and a fast break lay
up.
Pace opened the second half with an 13-to-6 run and would
eventually push their lead to 20 points at the 10:31 mark.
Williams led the way for Pace in the run, scoring 10 of the
team's 13 points.
Williams finished with a game-high, as well as a season-high, 28
points on 10-of-12 shooting from the floor including 5-of-7 from
3-point range. Neal Wellington (Wheaton, MD/Good Counsel) (Wheaton, MD)
had 16 points and nine assists, hitting on 5-of-11 from the field
and 2-of-6 from long range. Maurice Douglas (Waldorf, MD/South Maryland Christian) (Waldorf,
MD) had 10 opints while Oneil Morgan (Kingston, Jamaica/Excelsior) (Kingston,
Jamaica) finished with seven points and a team-high eight
rebounds.
For Assumption, Mike Foti (Franklin, MA) had 15 points while
Justin Hotchkiss (Maynard, MA) came off the bench to score 10
points and grab eight rebounds. Justin Dick (Dorchester, MA)
had seven points, seven boards and five assists while Corey
Diethorn (Pittsburgh, PA) and Greg Twomey (Groton, MA) each pulled
in nine rebounds.
Pace returns to action on Wednesday, November 30th
when they travel to Smithfield, RI to take on the Bulldogs of
Bryant University in a Northeast-10 Conference match-up set for a
7:30 p.m. tip-off.
