WACO, TX. – Pace Esports Valorant turned in a strong performance at the Collegiate Esports Commissioners Cup (CECC), advancing to the semifinals after an impressive multi-day run against top collegiate competition.
The Blue and Gold opened the event with a 2-1 record in group play on Day 1. Pace earned a 2-1 victory over the University of Wisconsin–Madison to begin the tournament before falling to Rutgers University, 0-2. With advancement on the line, the Setters responded in decisive fashion, sweeping Wisconsin–Madison 2-0 in a sudden-death series to secure a spot in the Round of 16 and advance to Day 2.
Pace carried that momentum into bracket play, opening Day 2 with a dominant 2-0 victory over San José State University in the Round of 16. The Setters followed with one of their strongest performances of the event in the quarterfinals, defeating #11 seed Stony Brook University in a tightly contested 2-1 series. Entering the matchup as the #14 seed, Pace delivered a statement win to punch its ticket to the semifinals and secure a top-four finish at the national event.
Through two days of competition, the Setters posted a 6-2 overall series record, showcasing the ability to perform in high-pressure situations against some of the top programs in the country.
Pace now turns its attention to Day 3, where the Setters will face #2 seed Fisher College in the CECC Semifinals, with a spot in the championship match on the line.
